Highland Gourmet Scones is a family owned and operated bakery located in Pelham, Alabama, just south of Birmingham. Our original recipe has been baked for more than three decades–the Golden Raisin scone was originally served by Bonnie Bailey at her restaurant and cooking school, The Highland Gourmet, on Birmingham’s Highland Avenue in the 1980s.
Offering fifteen different flavors (some seasonal), throughout the year, we individually weigh and “roll”, or shape, each scone by hand before baking each day. Customers can purchase in our store, online, and occasionally at other locations throughout town, including the Market at Pepper Place. While bags of 6 or 12 scones are the most popular items sold in our storefront, for special occasions and in each package we ship, scones come in two sizes of gold tins–an elegant gourmet gift that can shipped to recipients nationwide.
Highland Gourmet Scones have been sent to recipients in all fifty states, and internationally to Australia, Switzerland, and Canada. Even people in England have ordered them for family in the US. Some of our most loyal customers have coined the phrase that our shop has “the best scones this side of the Atlantic!”
